Four men have been jailed for their involvement in violent disorder which broke out in Bilston last year.
At around 6am on 15 August last year, a white Ford Focus was rammed into by a silver Mercedes E Class. A red Ford Fiesta then joined to block the car that had been rammed, before violence broke out.
Multiple men got out of the vehicles and were fighting with other men from the white Focus. The group were seen using weapons including metal scaffolding poles, swords, and machetes.
We were quickly called and after hearing the sirens of our officers, the men then fled the area and a pursuit ensued. Following the pursuit and a short foot chase, the four men were detained with help from PD Ray.
Our Major Crime Unit carried out an investigation, and following forensic examinations, and CCTV tracking, the four men were charged with multiple offences including wounding, causing actual bodily harm (ABH) and violent disorder.
Following a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court, Hardeep Singh, of Great South West Road, Hounslow, was found guilty of wounding with intent, ABH, and violent disorder. The 29-year-old was jailed for seven years.
Lakwinder Singh, of Buttery Road, Smethwick, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and ABH. The 27-year-old was jailed for six years and nine months.
Mukesh Kumar, of Larcombe Drive, Wolverhampton, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and ABH. The 31-year-old was jailed for six years.
Harpreet Singh, of Meynell Road, Leicester, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and ABH. The 26-year-old was jailed for five years and 10 months.
All four men were handed their sentences on Monday (8 June) at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
DC Sophie Evason, from our Major Crime Unit, said: "These four men thought it was ok to carry out a violent attack in the middle of a street with no regard for the public. Their violent actions were completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
"We carried out an extensive investigation to identify those involves and thankfully these four men will be spending time behind bars."
