I’m Inspector Jonathan Beach and I am the Local Policing Manager for the areas of Shard End, Hodge Hill, Washwood Heath and Bordesley Green.
I started my policing career as a special constable whilst studying at university. My first posting as a regular officer was working from Shard End police station and I am delighted to have returned to the area a number of years later.
I’ve worked in various roles as a PC, Sergeant and Inspector, including Response, Neighbourhood, Custody, Birmingham City Centre, Staff Officer to an Assistant Chief Constable and Professional Standards Department.
I am passionate about delivering a service that works for local people and believe that community engagement is fundamental to achieving this.
My neighbourhood teams will be attending regular community meetings and it is there that we will listen and discuss ways in which we can help tackle the issues that affect your community.

There has been increased reports of Anti social behaviour on Alum Rock Road particularly from Gowan Road to Saltley Gate. This is the the main retail area associated to Alum Rock and is at the periphery of the wider Safer Town Summer area. Officers will be working with Partners and retailers to address some of these issues as well as offering a visible presence in the area.
Action taken:
1- Officers will be continuing to provide a high visibility presence.
2- Officers are in contact with local councillors and the trader association to identify and address concerns.Update 24/08
Over the past week there have been 2 key celebrations.
-Pakistan Independence Day.
-Afghan Independence Day.Throughout these events officers have been conducting high visibility foot patrol in the area and were visiting various retailers to discuss the use of music etc.
There was some reports of vehicular ASB and issues around traffic which caused disruption. These issues will be kept under review when planning for future events.

Green Spaces.
During the summer months and school holidays officers will be working within the green spaces across the Washwood heath area to reduce anti social behaviour.Action taken:
1- Engage with local stakeholders(Community groups/elected officials/Fire Service) to identify and address issues within the green spaces.
2- Conduct high visibility patrols to reduce crime and asb within the green spaces.

In light of the fires that have taken place nationally over the latter part of last week and over the weekend, this priority remains extremely relevant.
Over the weekend we have been conducting additional patrols around our Green Spaces to reduce the risk of fires.
We have been in contact with the Fire Service and will be conducting some joint patrols in order to identify any fires/re-ignition early and also providing fire safety advice.

There has been an increase in complaints regarding parking and vehicles causing obstructions on the Alum Rock Road near to Saltley Gate and the adjoining roads(George Arthur Road/St Saviours Road)
Action taken:
1- There is ongoing engagement with local Councillors and retailers regarding the issues highlighted.
2- Local officers are in regular contact with BCC to support enforcement activity.

PCSO Abbas has been allocated this to review our response to some of the reports regarding vehicles causing obstructions.
The Alum Rock Road is a particular focus for BCC and their parking enforcement activity, as such PCSO Abbas' focus has been in the residential roads. This has resulted in several vehicles being recovered for no tax and suspected to have been used in crime.
PCSO Abbas has also submitted multiple tickets for obstruction offences. 10 tickets issued just this weekend.
