I have been a Police Officer for over 18 years, having transferred to West Midlands Police in 2008 from the Ministry of Defence Police.
I have a passion for proactive policing, and working with the community to reduce offending.
I spent my first 9 years working in Wolverhampton as a PC on Response, before moving onto Roads Policing in 2017.
I gained skills as a Police Advanced Driver and Advanced Motorcyclist, before further developing into the role of Tactical Advisor in relation to Tactical Pursuit and Containment or TPAC.
Having passed the Sergeants Examination, I took temporary promotion and was externally seconded to Police Now, where I trained in Totality, three different cohorts of new recruits, from both the Neighbourhood and Detective entry programmes. It was whilst working here that I became accredited as a PIP2 Detective.
Once I returned to force, I was substantively promoted to Sergeant, and posted back to Response in the East of Birmingham for a few years, and then moved into the role of Response Inspector in the West and Central parts of Birmingham, before moving across to the City Centre District in 2026.
I thrive in high pressure, critical thinking environments, allowing me to use my knowledge and skills to work with my officers and our partners to deliver policing excellence. I am delighted to be able to work with community members and partners to achieve this and to attend to the needs of the residents and visitors of Birmingham.
I am dedicated to the safety of the people of our city, and serve as one of West Midlands Police, Police Support Unit Commanders. I use my knowledge and expertise to deliver effective policing across the city and wider West Midlands Police area.
Outside of work I am a proud father to a five year old boy, the fact he is a German Shepherd in my view is immaterial. I live with my fiancé and we are currently planning our wedding in Italy.
I am proud to serve as part of the policing team for Birmingham City Centre. As the Outer Sector Inspector, I hold geographical responsibility for Westside, Southside, and Eastside, along with daily oversight of the entire city centre district. I work closely with a dedicated team of officers who are committed to responding effectively to calls for service while also tackling longer-term issues to address the challenges facing our community. I am eager to build long-lasting, supportive relationships with key stakeholders, working together to resolve local problems and create meaningful, positive change in our communities.
With over 23 years of policing experience, I have had the privilege of working across a range of operational, local policing, intelligence, and taskforce areas. This breadth of experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of how to address complex issues and implement effective strategies. I am especially passionate about preventing youth violence and have previously led Project Guardian Teams in Coventry and Birmingham, focusing on making our communities safer for young people.
As Bronze Lead for managing Use of Force for West Midlands Police, I am committed to improving transparency and accountability in how we use force while identifying opportunities to reduce its necessity in daily policing. In my role as Birmingham Local Policing Area Lead for staff assaults, I am equally dedicated to enhancing the care and support provided to our officers and staff when they face assault or hate crimes, as well as developing processes to reduce these offences. Additionally, I serve as a Police Support Unit Commander and Bronze Public Order Public Safety Commander, using my expertise to ensure the safe and effective policing of events across Birmingham City Centre and the wider region.
Outside of work, I am a proud husband and father to two very active young people who keep me on my toes with their busy social and sporting lives. I am also passionate about helping others and have taken part in several personal challenges to raise money for local charities—including jumping out of a plane at 13,000 feet, which, while not on my bucket list, proved to be a thrilling way to support a great cause!
I joined West Midlands Police in 2002 and have dedicated my career to working closely with the community and partners to reduce crime, protect the public, and bring offenders to justice.
During my first ten years in policing, I served as a PC across various Response, Neighbourhood, and proactive crime teams in East Birmingham. In 2013, I became a Sergeant in Sparkbrook, where I have fond memories of working with the community to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour. I take great pride in knowing I gave my all, supported by a strong team, to collaborate with local partners and achieve shared goals.
Between 2016 and 2019, I served as a Response Sergeant in both East and West Birmingham, leading teams to ensure we responded to calls for service as efficiently and effectively as possible.
In 2019, I was promoted to Police Inspector, working in Sandwell and Dudley before returning to Birmingham in late 2020 as a Response Inspector, covering West Birmingham.
In January 2025, I took on my current role in Birmingham City Centre. I am eager to engage with community members and partners to ensure my team and I provide the highest level of service, aligned with the needs of local residents and businesses.
I work alongside Inspector Dan Thomas, who oversees the Outer Sector (Westside, Southside, and Eastside), while I am primarily responsible for the Inner Sector (Central). Having previously worked together, I am confident we will continue to collaborate effectively to ensure our officers deliver the best possible service across all of Birmingham City Centre.
As a proud family man, father of three and grandad and a dedicated member of West Midlands Police for 23 years, I look forward to serving the Birmingham City Centre community and its businesses.
