Hi, I'm Inspector Maria Perrin, your local policing lead in the St Michael’s area of Coventry.
My priorities for the area include reducing anti-social behaviour, violence and sexual offences, business crime, and fostering positive relationships between the police and the local community.
I started in my role in January 2025 and have focused on meeting partners, key community members, and volunteers to understand what matters most to the communities of St Michael’s.
As an accredited detective with over 15 years of experience in local policing, investigations, and offender management, I have an excellent understanding of both operational and community-based policing responsibilities.
My teams consist of experienced and hardworking Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers who all have extensive knowledge of the community.
I am keen to ensure that our teams share their good work in protecting the public, and the policing website is just one way to do that. I invite members of the community to review the upcoming meetings, which will provide everyone the opportunity to attend and share any concerns they may have.
Anti-Social Behaviour in the City Centre
This includes individuals who are involved in public space alcohol consumption, drug use, aggressive begging and the dangerous use of illegal E Bikes. Ebike operations joint working with traffic.

The St Michaels Neighbourhood Team is working with the Coventry City Council and other partners to stop illegal use of E Bikes often driven dangerously in pedestrian areas. We are using powers under the Public Space Protection Order to require riders to dismount when riding carelessly. Two operations jointly working with Force Traffic have resulted in seizures of Ebikes and enforcement around no insurance.

Business crime, rise in burglary business has been recorded with action taken and continues to identify and arrest offenders.

Suspect identified in relation to crime patterns of burglary business. Proactive action relating to the arrest and charge of offenders. Further investigation & partnership working with business and coventry council & the bid to identify the BID.

The team have worked alongside traffic and specialist trained officers to disrupt offenders, target repeat locations and safeguard potential victims. There have been numerous targeted days of activity during the day but also overnight during the nighttime economy.
Plain clothes officers are deployed to detect those perpetrators that are displaying concerning predatory behaviours. The Safer Summer plan seeks to ensure policing and partners focus on hotspot locations.
