Sheldon NPT has been made aware of parking issues linked to nearby Sheldon Country Park and Birmingham International Airport. Intel also suggests various social media posts are attracting people to the location, advertising views of the airport etc. In addition to this, parking in becoming an issue at Granby Business Park because of overflow parking form a local business.

-Sheldon officer have conducted high visibility foot patrols when able to do so.

-Promote the use of Operation Snap for some moving traffic offences and parking offences.

-Utilising Streetwatch patrols to engage with / educate road users at fault.

-Also working with Birmingham City Council to address a parking issue at nearby Grandy Business Park. We are taking a partnership approach but have also seized half a dozen vehicles obstructing the highway.

-Problem vehicles across the neighbourhood are being recovered for a variety of offences including parking offences, no tax, insurance, obstruction offences or simply being stolen. This increases visibility at key junctions and frees up valuable parking space for residents and business

Reflecting the national trend, Sheldon Retail Park has experienced a significant amount of retail crime in the first half of 2026, the majority committed by by a small number of repeat offenders. In addition to this, retailers and members of the public have complained about a small number of rough sleepers / aggressive beggars who are intimidating staff and shoppers. In addition to Sheldon Retail Park, the team are also trying to extend crime prevention and engagement to businesses at the Radleys Shops.

-Two new officers joining the team in early August will increase visibility at Sheldon Retail Park.

-Regular patrols of Sheldon Retail Park, with officers assigned specific retailers to develop strong working relationships and continuity moving forward.

-Recently charged a prolific offender with 5 offences and remanded in custody.

-We recently had a very productive meeting with a retailer community member at the Radleys Shops about the possibility of starting a Business Watch in the area. We are in the process of organising a venue and date for our first meeting in September.

-Officers have identified a clear link between local retail crime and rough sleeping / drug use in a specific area in Sheldon Country Park. The team are working with local councillors to clear up the area and encounter persons of interest. This can then results in intervention work or enforcement when appropriate.

Sheldon NPT have received reports off Anti-Social Behaviour involving off road motorbikes in and around the Comberton Road, Chestnuts Avenue and Manston Road. This behaviour is linked to a small number of local shops and addresses.

-Colleagues from the Road Policing Unit recently arrested two males from a stolen vehicle following a pursuit where the offenders decamped from the vehicle in the Chestnuts estate.

-Enforcement for traffic offences where able to do so.

-Promote the use of Operation Snap for low level moving traffic offences.

-Developing intel with a view to enforcement action against problem addresses.
