I’m Inspector Jonathan Beach and I am the Local Policing Manager for the areas of Shard End, Hodge Hill, Washwood Heath and Bordesley Green.
I started my policing career as a special constable whilst studying at university. My first posting as a regular officer was working from Shard End police station and I am delighted to have returned to the area a number of years later.
I’ve worked in various roles as a PC, Sergeant and Inspector, including Response, Neighbourhood, Custody, Birmingham City Centre, Staff Officer to an Assistant Chief Constable and Professional Standards Department.
I am passionate about delivering a service that works for local people and believe that community engagement is fundamental to achieving this.
My neighbourhood teams will be attending regular community meetings and it is there that we will listen and discuss ways in which we can help tackle the issues that affect your community.

Anti Social Behaviour at Lea Village with young people
Action taken:
Working with parents, local businesses and community projects to identify and divert young people into positive activities.
New patrol strategy has been implemented in and around Lea village during peak ASB times.

There has been an increase in complaints from local residents regarding speeding and off road bikes
Action taken:
Local speed operations and joint working with our Road Harm Prevention team.

Consistent speeding by motorists in the Shard End area.
Action taken:
The Shard End Team continue to do Roadside Speed Enforcement at multiple locations to tackle this issue.
