Force Priority - Operation Stance
We are currently engaged in tackling the criminality seen at shops on our area, which are leading us to target disruption efforts and enforce legislation to those responsible for owning, managing and utilising these stores.

We will be conducting high visibility patrols and visits to local stores.
We will be liaising with external partners and conducting joint visits to reduce criminality and ensure trading standards are upheld.

July update:

We are currently conducting partnership days at various locations with Birmingham City Council Trading standards and Trident housing. We are visiting a number of premises regarding counterfeit goods and looking at target hardening for shoplifting.

Local priority - Thefts from retailers on Walsall Road
The Perry Barr NHT are aware of a number of thefts that have been reported from local businesses on the Walsall Road (within Perry Barr ward area).

The Perry Barr NHT are proactively working on providing visibility and tackling repeat offenders who are engaged in thefts from stores and other retail outlets within this area.
- We will conduct high visibility patrols at location
- We will conduct crime prevention surgeries at locations in order to prevent future offences
- We will work with internal and external partners to bring repeat offenders to justice.

July update :

Officers from the team have arrested three prolific shoplifters in the last month. One individual was arrested for four shoplifting offences. One individual arrested for three shoplifting offence. Both have been to court and remanded. The third individual as been arrested and is currently in custody.
A new retail crime team has started this month to cover the Perry Barr Constituency.

At One Stop Shopping Centre there is a Police drop in surgery and crime prevention event every month.

Community Priority - ASB around One Stop Shopping Centre and Aldridge Road area.
The Perry Barr NHT are aware of the issues causing problems for residents, businesses and visitors to the One Stop Shopping Centre area. We understand the problems with drug use, prostitution and other offences remain a nuisance for our communities. This criminality also includes begging at stationary traffic lights.

We will be engaged with working amongst internal and external partners to support the enforcement of this work.
We have issued a number of community protection warnings to those who are begging at stationary traffic lights.

July Update:

Joint patrols are being conducted with Trident Housing offering help and support to homeless individuals. A community protection warning as been issued to one individual for persistent begging after numerous warnings. Officers are continuing to identify individuals who are responsible for causing anti- social behaviour. There are police surgeries/ crime prevention events held at One Stop twice a month for the community to come and speak to the team.
