Rough Sleepers causing anti-social behaviour, leaving drugs paraphernalia and litter, and abusing residents as well as drug dealers visiting people to deliver drugs. Working sometimes as teams and assisting in Theft from Shop and stall offences.

We have noticed an increase again in relation to this and will be conducting further multi agency work at the location

The team have been working with the Birmingham City Council is re-installing CCTV within the Village. After consultation and presentation of evidence the Council have agreed to 5 cameras to be installed. Four of these are likely to be completed in the Summer with the further one planned for next year. This will enable the local Policing Team to view evidence of drug use which will provide evidence for Community Protection Warnings and notices giving the Police the Power of Arrest.

The team have also been contacting local businesses to provide CCTV of drug users and beggars causing Anti-Social Behaviour. This will provide further evidence in the application of Community Protection Warnings/Notices.

Officers continue to patrol the area when and where available, and will utilise stop and search powers when circumstances allow.

Police and residents has noted a number of users of nitrous oxide who are using the drug within vehicles in the local area. Not only are these activities illegal they both pose a danger to the public through parties driving under the influence, have a negative impact on the environment (littering), and pose a danger to the users themselves. The local Police Neighbourhood Team are looking to address the issues with the help of the public and local partners to make the area a safer and cleaner place.

We have further work planned to look at the sale of Nitrous Oxide. We will also be doing work in and around some of the locations where people are consuming the drug in their cars.

We are aware that this is part of a much larger issue across the country and will feed in any information we get to key stakeholders to allow larger pieces of work to be developed nationally

Increase in vehicles obstructing others, mainly when parked and un-taxed vehicles by the side of the road

Update- We have issued more then 30 Traffic tickets for a variety of different traffic offences in the Acocks Green Area in the last Month and seized multiple vehicles

We have had more reports of this recently and also on social media. We take all reports seriously however traffic reports will generally sit lower in priority for Police attendance than other jobs due to the assessment of risk

There are several elements to this priority. If a vehicle is out of road tax it cannot be seized immediately. Police have to adhere to a set period after the expiry of the tax before a vehicle can be seized. We also cannot seize a vehicle on private land.

The local teams will act on any vehicle that can be seized lawfully when time allows and we have also been working directly with the DVLA who have been using an ANPR car to issue penalties. In two hours the car identified 90 offences

Police can address issues of obstruction on the public highway however we cannot proceed with matters that are a partial obstruction. There is an online portal that the public can use to report traffic matters. Due to the volume of requests that officers get we cannot always tell you the result however in March over 1,800 penalties were issued
