Salary
West Midlands Police is a Real Living Wage accredited employer- which means we will always pay equivalent to, or above the real cost of living rate, as determined by the Living Wage Foundation.
Both Police Officer and Police Staff salaries are governed by legislation, and are subject to national pay reviews and increases. In addition, incremental progression is applied annually until you reach the top of your rank or grade.
Allowances
As policing is not a 9-5 role, many of our roles attract allowances for shift/weekend working, being on-call or other role specific requirements.
Pension
West Midlands Police offers an enhanced Pension scheme to both Police Officers and Police Staff, with competitive employer contribution rates which far exceed the statutory pension contributions. There is also the opportunity to make additional contributions to top up your pension.

Blue Light Card
All West Midlands Police employees are eligible to purchase a blue light card which gives you access to thousands of retailer discounts and free tickets to member only events.
Corporate Travel Schemes
For a limited time, all new West Midlands Police employees are eligible for a free 28-day bus pass allowing travel across the West Midlands, and 25% discount for a further 2 months. In addition to this, we also have a discounted travel scheme with National Express available to all colleagues.
Police Officers can travel for free on rail providers across the Midlands in accordance with our Travel Concession Policy. Police staff can access discounted rail travel passes, and spread the cost with a loan from their salary.
Car Parking

Enhanced entitlements
West Midlands Police offers an enhanced annual leave package starting at 25 days for Police Officers and 24 days for Police staff, plus bank holidays. Annual leave entitlements increase through length of service and career progression.
Colleagues also have the option to purchase up to one week’s additional annual leave through our holiday-plus salary sacrifice scheme, benefitting from tax and national insurance savings.
