Student life can be hard to navigate. As well as making friends, finding your way around campus and juggling lectures, it’s also important to keep your safety in mind – especially if you’re living away from home for the first time.
That’s where we come in. Each university in the West Midlands has dedicated university police officers and/or PCSOs who work hard to provide support, promote safety and build positive relationships with the student community. As well as having a visible presence on campus, these officers also host various engagement activities across the campuses which are a chance for students to talk about their concerns, gain crime prevention advice and find out about the support they can access from the police and other partner organisations.
This is also a digital guide available which covers a wide range of crime prevention topics including home security, staying safe on nights out, meeting new people, keeping valuables safe, using taxis and much more. Download the guide to learn more about these issues and others.
Follow our dedicated Safer Students Instagram account to gain advice for staying safe at university and keep up-to-date with helpful events or engagement activities throughout the year.
Visit our Safer Students website to gain more tips and advice on how to look after yourself at university and read first-hand experiences from students on a wide range of topics.
