Two people have been charged with knife offences following proactive Guardian patrols over the weekend.
On Saturday (2 May), officers patrolling in Bilston stopped a man on Prosser Street. Following searches, a knife was recovered.
Mason Shelley was arrested and has been charged with possession of a knife. The 21-year-old will appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on 3 June.
On Sunday (3 May), officers from the Guardian Taskforce stopped a boy on Tays Field Road, Northfield, and recovered a machete.
The 13-year-old boy was arrested and has been referred to a YOT (Youth Offending Team), where work will begin with the aim of preventing re-offending.
Project Guardian is a specialist taskforce which tackles knife crime and youth violence.
There is particular emphasis on reducing knife crime, through a range of tactics from plain-clothed operations to high visibility patrols and positive engagement with young people.
