We’ve arrested a man after another man was stabbed in Alum Rock this afternoon (Tues).
We were called to Bridge Road just after at 12.06pm following reports another man had been seriously injured.
Firearms officers were deployed to the incident as part of our response.
A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing and is currently in police custody.
A woman also sustained injuries not believed to be life threatening or changing.
A number of firearms officers – uniformed and plain clothed – attended the incident today.
Their deployment is routine when responding to a serious incident where a weapon has been used in a public place.
The incident is not being treated as terrorism related.
Detective Superintendent James Munro from West Midlands Police, said: “We believe this to be a contained incident with a man in custody.
“We are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to a number of people in the area. But would appeal to anyone who has any information to get in touch.
“We understand how deeply distressing and concerning this incident is and we will have extra officers in the area to offer reassurance to the community.”
