A woman is due in court charged with a range of offences, after several of our Birmingham police officers were assaulted whilst on duty.
Kacey Moncrieffe, aged 31 from Rugby, is due at Birmingham Magistrates Court today (10 June).
She faces 19 charges in total ranging from assaulting an emergency worker to causing racially / religiously aggravated harassment, alarm, or distress.
The alleged offences all occurred after Moncrieffe was arrested in Handsworth on Monday (8 June).
Twelve of our officers and one police staff member were subsequently assaulted.
Some were punched, kicked, and headbutted, while others suffered verbal abuse.
Superintendent Haroon Chughtai, from Birmingham Police, said: “The violence and abuse suffered by our officers is completely unacceptable, and we take these offences extremely seriously.
“Police officers and staff come to work to protect the public, often putting themselves in harm’s way – but violence against them will never be tolerated and must never been seen as part of their job.
“Those officers and staff are part of the West Midlands community and as ever we will be relentless in bringing to justice those who carry out violence here.”
