We’ve arrested six people and recovered a firearm following reports of disorder in Small Heath last night (8 June).
Officers from our Guardian Taskforce were called to Carlton Road when the group fled. Following a foot-chase, a 19-year-old was arrested, and a gun was recovered nearby.
A further five people were arrested including three men aged 21, 19 and 18 and two teenagers aged 17 on suspicion of firearm offences.
All six remain in police custody.
We're currently running Operation Target which sees us take a defiant stand against a range of serious and organised crime offences.
Anyone with information regarding illegal firearms activity should contact police as a matter of urgency. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contact 100% anonymously via 0800 555 111. A single report could prove vital in solving serious crimes.
