A man has been charged with murder after a fatal stabbing in Sparkbrook.
Ahmad Alkozai, aged 29, from Birmingham, was arrested in Bristol on Friday (5 June) and has been remanded in custody to appear at Walsall Magistrates Court tomorrow.
We were called to reports of a stabbing on Walford Road in Sparkbrook at around 6.20pm on Thursday.
Tragically, a man had been stabbed and died a short time later.
Our Major Crime Unit began immediate enquiries, and detectives believe this was a targeted attack involving people known to each other.
The victim’s family are being supported by our specialist officers at this incredibly difficult time and have appealed for privacy as they come to terms with what happened.
In line with their wishes, we are urging people to be respectful and not to share photos or footage linked to this incident, to avoid causing more distress and potentially prejudicing legal proceedings.
Three other men arrested as part of our enquiries have been released on bail with conditions.
Det Insp Matt Marston, leading the investigation, said: “This is a significant step forward in our investigation, which is continuing.
“Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family – they have are being kept updated and we continue to offer them our full support.
“It’s vital that anyone who does have footage or information shares it with us directly.”
We have set up a dedicated page where people can submit photos, videos, and other information – Public Portal.
