We are investigating after a man found with serious injuries in Clayton Road, Coventry yesterday evening (Saturday) died.
Officers attended after being alerted by ambulance colleagues at just after 8.10pm.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics the man, aged 63, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene and his family is being supported at this devastating time.
Enquiries are on-going to establish the exact circumstances and a man, aged 37, has been arrested on suspicion of death by careless driving and drink-driving.
Investigations remain at an early stage with door-to-door enquiries and the reviewing of CCTV footage continuing today.
