We’ve arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder as our investigation into a shooting in Sutton Coldfield continues.
A man in his 20s remains in a critical condition in hospital after being shot in Mount View shortly before 11.30pm on Saturday (31 January).
A woman also sustained minor injuries after a number of shots were fired.
We're continuing to investigate the circumstances but following enquiries we understand a group of men, who are suspected of being involved, fled on electric bikes.
We arrested a man aged 21 on suspicion of attempted murder from a vehicle in the Minworth area at around 3am.
He remains in custody today.
Detective Inspector Francis Nock, from our major crime unit, said: "A man has been very seriously injured, and we're determined to find out who was responsible for doing this.
"We're working round the clock to establish exactly what happened and we know there will be people who can help us.
“We have already received information as a result of our appeals, but I’d continue to urge anyone who saw what happened or who knows who is involved to get in touch.”
We've increased our police presence in the area following the incident.
