We were joined by colleagues from Warwickshire Police for a joint operation in and around Chelmsley Wood last week to tackle antisocial behaviour and nuisance caused by people carelessly riding off-road bikes and other powered vehicles.
Our dedicated off-road bike unit came along to support the operation, and they were ready to pursue any potential offenders we spotted while out and about.
We also took the opportunity to exchange intelligence on cross-border activity with our Warwickshire counterparts, discuss our tactics and learn from each other’s approaches.
Officers from Warwickshire seized a powered bike and scooter from two riders behaving recklessly in the neighbourhood. One of them was from Warwickshire while the other was a local resident. Our officers also stopped a car that was being driven without insurance, took possession of the vehicle and issued the driver with a fine and a penalty notice.
We’re carrying out dedicated operations like this, as well as reassurance patrols and enforcement activity, as part of our Safer Town Summer campaign to make our town centres and surrounding neighbourhoods safe and welcoming environments for those living in, working in and visiting them.
To achieve this, we’re working in partnership with local councils, businesses, community groups and others. You can help us to by letting us know about any problems that you encounter or if there any issues in your neighbourhood that you want us to investigate.
We’ll use the information you provide to focus our efforts on dealing with the things that really matter to you.
