#PATROLS | Two of our police horses were once again the ‘mane’ attraction as they paid a visit to Dudley recently, engaging with the public and gathering intelligence around off-road bikers.
Police horses Bruce and Belgravia, alongside officers, headed over to Brierley Hill last week as part of some high-visibility patrols to deter crime and engage with the public.
Belgravia a Clydesdale, and Bruce, an Irish Draught, were some of the first horses to join WMP in 2025 as the Mounted Unit was reintroduced for the first time in 26 years.

Never ones to ‘shire’ away from tackling crime and speaking to the community, the officers engaged with locals answering questions about the unit’s role within WMP and why they were out patrolling.
Our horses are typically used for general police patrols but also attend football matches, targeted operations and are used to respond to disorder.
However, they are also often deployed across the whole of the West Midlands to engage with the public to show the different resources and teams we have available.
During the patrols the officers were able to get vital intelligence about an off-road bike and a suspect riding it, as well as speaking to members of the community following a burglary at a business.
Teams across Dudley have also been out across the borough carrying out more high-visibility patrols acting on reports of concerns around antisocial behaviour (ASB).
Some of our Stourbridge PCSOs visited the Elton Centre on Tuesday (14 April) to discuss any concerns from residents.
Over in Coseley and Halesowen, officers have been out patrolling known ASB hotspot areas, including the Bethesda Play area in Halesowen following reported concerns of increasing ASB.
