People in Kings Heath are set to benefit from more dedicated police resources on the High Street.
Our local policing model means we understand what matters to communities, and our officers have been listening to concerns from people about crime and anti-social behaviour on Kings Heath High Street.
To tackle this we now have one dedicated Police Constable, and one dedicated Police Community Support Officer to work on the High Street.
They will be supported by the wider Moseley and Kings Heath Neighbourhood Team, as well as our 24/7 response officers.
They provide reassurance to the public, and work closely in partnership with Enjoy Kings Heath and their High Street Wardens to prevent things like shop theft and anti-social behaviour.
They’re supported by our Streetwatch volunteers, who devote their own time to patrolling the area.
Sgt Louise Nicholls, from the Moseley and Kings Heath Neighbourhood Team, said: “Local policing is about getting to the heart of the issues that matter to communities, and it’s great news that Kings Heath High Street now has dedicated officers patrolling it.
“We’re grateful to our partners and Streetwatch volunteers for their support, and our officers are hoping to make a real difference in partnership.
If you do see us out and about – come and say hello!”.
PC Harriet Batchelor, the dedicated PC for Kings Heath High Street, added: “Kings Heath is a great area, it’s very vibrant with lots going on and people are proud of it.
“We’ve already lots of good conversations with businesses and residents on the High Street.
“We know that people are concerned by things like ASB and shop theft and that’s why we’re patrolling to help tackle that.”
We have more than 130 StreetWatch groups helping us keep an eye on things across the West Midlands.
If you think you could spare as little as two hours every month, at times which suit you, you could make a real difference to your community.
