We're always linking in with partners locally and from further afield as we work to keep our residents and communities safe in Wolverhampton.
And this week our Wednesfield & Heath Town Police team detained a man who was wanted by our colleagues at Derbyshire Police. When he was spotted by our officers he made off on foot but with support from Response officers, he was detained in undergrowth and arrested. One of our officers did receive a minor injury to their hand during the arrest, but they're now recovering fine.
With the region in the grips of the cold weather our teams have also been carrying out regular early morning patrols advising drivers not to leave their vehicles unattended while they are defrosting, or just being left to warm up.
Bilston & East Park officers have come across a number of vehicles left running, with 14 motorists in just two days being given advice, including a reminder that insurance is invalid if a vehicle were to be stolen in such a situation.
Whilst out on those patrols Bilston officers also seized a car for having no tax and issued a parking ticket on a vehicle in the town centre for causing an obstruction, which we know can create real issues for people with pushchairs and mobility scooters.
Back over with the Wednesfield & Heath Town team they'd received reports of a man regularly causing a nuisance at shops and businesses at Bentley Bridge and aggressively begging to members of the public. So they have served him with a Community Protection Notice and he's now banned from entering the shops complex.
The team also responded to calls from shop staff at Bentley Bridge about a group of teenagers trying to shoplift from several stores. Officers swiftly detained a number of youngsters and recovered goods which had been taken from a clothing store.
Looking ahead to next week, officers from the Low Hill, Bushbury & Fallings Park team will be holding a drop-in clinic when local people can raise any concerns they have or get some advice. The PCSOs will be at Low Hill Library in Showell Circus next Friday (17 Jan) from 3pm.
