Reports that ambulances were raided or unable to drop-off patients at two Birmingham hospitals following the stabbing of a 16-year-old boy yesterday, are untrue.
False claims are being made on social media and repeated in the community.
We have spoken to officers who attended the hospital with the victim, along with hospital staff on duty at the time as well as ambulance officials. All have confirmed that these rumours are untrue, unhelpful and damaging to the caring service they provide.
Following the knife attack, community members held a peace vigil in Bordesley Green today (Sunday 16 February), almost 24 hours after the boy was injured, condemning knife crime. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.
A police operation is underway to find who is responsible.
In addition to detectives working on the investigation, uniformed officers are patrolling the area to listen to local concerns.
