PC Plummer shares his story from cadet to frontline cop

A former cadet is relishing his first year as a full-time cop on the frontline in Walsall.

PC Jayden Plummer is part of our response unit which rapidly respond to emergency calls for help.

The 19-year-old initially joined us as a cadet in 2021 and this inspired him to pursue a career in policing.

Jayden volunteered over 300 hours and this helped him to build up his skills, knowledge and see the positive impact he could make on people's lives.

Last August he started his officer training as part of the Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP) and he’s been based in Walsall since the start of the year.

Jayden - who previously worked in a pharmacy - said: "There is no typical day with response, no two days are the same. But every day is something different, and always something to look forward to and learn from.

"It's very busy and very fast past, but I am supported by a strong team with plenty of experience and knowledge. 

"The best part of the job is helping people, knowing I make a difference to someone’s life. I also enjoy responding to incidents and getting to be as proactive as the demand allows us to be."
