A woman has been found guilty of murdering her newborn baby in Coventry.
Jia Xin Teo, 22, was found guilty at Warwick Crown Court on 24 October for the murder of the child, which happened in March this year.
We were called to an address in Raglan Street on 6 March after concerns were raised for the child after Teo arrived at hospital showing signs of having given birth.
Staff at the hospital asked her if she had given birth, but she denied having done so.
This caused concern that Teo had abandoned the baby, so officers attended her address.
There, they sadly found the body of the baby girl in a box.
Teo later admitted having given birth and being scared in case her family and friends back home in Malaysia found out and it affected her studies.
For this reason she declined all medical help, giving birth at her address and hiding it from her flatmates.
She also claimed to have been hearing voices which told her to dispose of her child.
Teo was remanded until her trial, which began in October this year and will be sentenced at a later date.
