Appeal following courier fraud

APPEAL | Do you recognise these two? We want to speak with them in connection with a fraud investigation where a man was fraudulently convinced to hand over his bank cards. The man innocently handed his cards over to what he thought was a secure courier from his bank. However, the people he handed them over to went onto spend over £3,000 on goods in Birmingham city centre, where an iPhone was bought and cash withdrawals were made. How officers in Dudley marked National Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action

Our neighbourhood teams across Dudley supported National Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action by carrying out patrols, speaking with residents and businesses, and responding to community concerns. In Halesowen, officers conducted patrols in the town centre, speaking with customers and retailers about ways to reduce crime and improve safety. The team also celebrated a significant milestone as members of the Halesowen Town Street Watch marked their fifth anniversary. For the past five years, volunteers have patrolled the town centre, provided valuable information to the police and carried out litter picks. In Stourbridge, PCSOs visited Ruskin Glass Centre to hold a police surgery, giving residents the opportunity to raise concerns and discuss issues affecting the local community. Officers also carried out a Speed Watch operation on Walker Avenue, Wollescote, following reports of speeding and anti-social driving. Several motorists will receive warnings letters as a result of the operation. During patrols, officers also recovered a stolen vehicle. Our Dudley Central team also delivered week two of its six-week Junior PCSO programme at Russells Hall Primary School with the Year 5 Junior PCSO summer cohort. Armed Forces Day: Force praised over support for service personnel

This Armed Forces Day, we are proud to announce that WMP has been praised for the support it offers service personnel. We've been awarded a Silver Defence Employer Recognition award as part of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS). It recognises employers who support defence personnel and aims to inspire others to do the same. Organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant, can be awarded bronze, silver and gold awards. We first signed the Armed Forces Covenant back in 2012, and this latest silver award recognition reinforces our ongoing commitment to our colleagues who are veterans, armed forces reservists and cadet leaders. Inspector Jennifer Hulston and Chief Inspector Johanna Comer have worked with T/Assistant Chief Constable Paul Drover to secure the award. “Being awarded a Silver Defence Employer Recognition Scheme demonstrates how our recruitment and workplace processes offer the opportunity to transition from the armed forces into policing,” said ACC Paul Drover, WMP strategic lead for Veterans, Reservists and Armed Forces Recruitment. “We’ve also taken steps to make sure our special leave policy supports Armed Forces Reservists’ ability to meet their annual training days requirement, by providing up to 10 days additional paid leave to reservists, to ensure the resilience of our nation. “Colleagues who have served or continue to serve in the Armed Forces bring a wealth of leadership skills, professionalism and specialisms. We are incredibly proud to have these people as part of our policing family, a message I’m sure we all share this Armed Forces Day and throughout the year.”
