Operation Fearless officers are continuing their work to make the Soho Road and Handsworth Triangle a safer place for all this week, as they respond to the concerns of the community and target the crimes that have the biggest impact on the area. Yesterday (Thursday), three suspected drug dealers were arrested after officers stopped a car on Maxwell Avenue. Around £4,000 in cash, along with two burner phones and cannabis was recovered. Two men from the car were arrested, while a third was arrested at a linked address in Perry Barr, where drugs and scales were recovered. Another man was arrested for indecent exposure after a member of the public pointed him out to officers. The Operation Fearless team officially arrived in the area in May, and have been working hard to improve the area since. Det Ch Insp John Askew, who heads the team, said: “We’ve made a large number of arrests, and recovered drugs and weapons that are all linked to the criminality that people have been telling us is a big concern in the area. “That work will continue, but it’s only part of the Fearless picture. “We work closely alongside businesses, Trading Standards, wardens and others to take a partnership approach to tackling problems in the area. “We’re hoping to bring more partners on board over the coming weeks, as our work to make the area safer for all continues. "We’ll continue to listen to the concerns of people who live, work and visit the area, and take the right action with partners.” Fearless was launched in 2025, and got to work in Erdington, before moving on to the Southside area of the city centre.
