Request
I am writing under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information covering the past 12 months (from the date of this email):
1. Misconduct Referrals
a) The total number of misconduct referrals received in the past 12 months
b) A breakdown of those referrals by ethnicity of the subject officer or staff member
2. Active Misconduct Investigations
a) The number of currently active misconduct investigations
b) A breakdown by ethnicity of the officers or staff under investigation
3. Regulation 12 Notices
a) The number of Regulation 12 notices issued in the past 12 months
b) A breakdown by ethnicity of the recipients
4. Regulation 13 Notices
a) The number of Regulation 13 notices issued in the past 12 months
b) A breakdown by ethnicity of the recipients
Response
“It is important to note the force operates under the Police Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Behaviour. This includes challenging any inappropriate behaviour or action which would discredit the police service or undermine public confidence in policing. Our Professional Standards department, take a robust stance and are committed to rooting out abuse of power, criminality and corruption whenever we find evidence of it. This is done by carrying out thorough investigations, offering support and dealing appropriately with anyone found to be acting in an inappropriate manner.”
1. Misconduct Referrals
a) The total number of misconduct referrals received in the past 12 months
There have been 505 misconduct referrals received between 21/08/2024 – 21/08/2025.
b) A breakdown of those referrals by ethnicity of the subject officer or staff member
There are 558 subject officer/staff for the misconduct referrals. However, this contains subjects who have had than one misconduct referral within the past 12 months – so will be counted twice:

There are currently 262 current misconduct investigations.

329 officers/staff subject to non-finalised misconduct investigation- this includes duplicate collar numbers so there are officers/staff with more than one case.
