FOI Request Reference: 1810A/25
Thank you for your request for information, received 29/8/2025
Request
I am writing to request data from your systems that provide details of how often ‘blue light’ vehicles are sent on emergency callouts, and the subsequent waiting times experienced for these units to arrive on scene.
If it is available separately, I am also hoping to receive insights into the quantity of relevant ‘blue light’ vehicle units in each fleet, and current vehicle status.
-Notes:
- When defining ‘emergency callouts’, please focus on grade 1 emergency response only [or equivalent, if other categorisation]
- When defining ‘blue light’ vehicles, please consider all relevant vehicle types (e.g. police cars, vans, and motorbikes) which might be sent to these emergency callouts
We clarified with you on 29th August 2025 and you responded on 1st September 2025.
Your amended question reads:
For the time Period 28/08/2024-27/08/2025 please provide:
- Q1. The number of P1s responded
- Q2. The average attendance times for those in question 1
Response
Please find enclosed our response.
Please see the below answers:
Q1: Between the requested period, we attended 183,938 EM (P1) incidents.
Q2: The median response time for these incidents during this period was 0:10:17 (10 minutes, 17 seconds).
Every effort is made to ensure that the figures presented are accurate and complete. However, it is important to note that this data has been extracted from a number of data sources used by forces for police purposes. The detail collected to respond specifically to your request may be subject to the inaccuracies inherent in any large-scale recording system. As a consequence, care should be taken to ensure data collection processes and their inevitable limitations are considered when interpreting the data.
The figures provided therefore are our best interpretation of data which has relevance to your request, but you should be aware that the collation of figures for ad hoc requests may have limitations and this should be considered when those data are used.
If you decide to write an article / use the enclosed data we would ask you to take into consideration the factors highlighted in this document so as to not mislead members of the public or official bodies, or misrepresent the relevance of the whole or any part of this disclosed material.
