Request
I want to know how many people have received fines for not restraining children properly whilst driving.
- How many motorists were caught for travelling with children illegally without a child car seat
- CCCJ Offence code RT88515 Drive motor vehicle seat belt fitted, with child over 3 but under 14, not wearing seat belt.
- How many motorists were caught driving without the correct child car seat
- CCCJ Offence code RT88514 Drive motor vehicle with child under 3 not wearing rear seatbelt / using correct child seat.
I would like figures for 2022, 2023, 2024 and the start of 2025, broken down by month.

This data has been collated for the following offences:
CCCJ Offence code RT88515 Drive motor vehicle seat belt fitted, with child over 3 but under 14, not wearing seat belt.
CCCJ Offence code RT88514 Drive motor vehicle with child under 3 not wearing rear seatbelt / using correct child seat.
No data recorded for matters where more than one offence is recorded at the same time. For example, if an individual was caught drink driving with one of the above seat belt offences as well, this case will not be included in the figures.
The 2025 figure may not include all offences as they may not have been processed yet.
