your latest data on domestic abuse incidents recorded in Coventry to inform a press release I am writing on the launch of a community-wide early response programme called Make a Change. I would be grateful if you could provide me with the following data points at your earliest convenience: 

• Number of domestic abuse-related incidents recorded in Coventry from June 2024 to June 2025
• Number of victims of domestic abuse broken down by gender recorded between June 2024 to June 2025

We clarified with you on 6^th Oct and you replied the same day. You amended request reads:

Please note that the victim gender is not always available.  

The above figures in question one is based on domestic abuse-related recorded crimes recorded in Coventry for the time period required.

To then retrieve the victim gender, we have to do a further search of those retrieved in question one.  This people search is where we would locate the victim gender.  Victim gender is only available if the officer recording the crime fills in this field.  The “-“represents where the officer has recorded a “-“for this field.

One crime can have more than one victim.

One victim can be the same victim for multiple crimes. (repeat victim).

We must always also remember some victims do not engage and therefore a crime is recorded with very little detail.

Therefore, of the 5392 records retrieved only 5367 victim gender fields have been filled in.

This explains the disparity in the results.
