Non Hate Crime incidents (FOI Ref: 362A/25)

Request

For the year of 2024. Specifically, I would like to request the following data:

1. How many Non-Crime Hate Crime Incidents were recorded in 2024?
2. Of these in how many cases racially aggravated?
3. Where the victim’s ethnicity was recorded, what was the breakdown, by ethnicity?
4. Of these offences, what was the type of offence (e.g. hate speech, harassment, social media posts)?

You have asked for incidents, it is important to note how we classify an incident.

When a member of the public phones the Police, it is initially recorded as:

ROC (record of contact): Where information has been received and Police need no further involvement or action. For example: There will be a road closed on XXXX. Police do not attend a ROC.

Incident: An incident is created where Police involvement is required. Incident: An incident is created where Police involvement is required.  If a crime is identified from that incident then a crime is created for the relevant offence. Not all incidents have a crime created.

Recorded Crimes: These are created from an incident above and are crimes that require recording / investigating

Please note that victim ethnicity data is not a mandatory recording field, therefore the results only indicate where data has been recorded.

3. Where the victim’s ethnicity was recorded, what was the breakdown, by ethnicity?

4. Of these offences, what was the type of offence (e.g. hate speech, harassment, social media posts)? 

On our recording systems: “Hate Incident – Non-Crime” is in itself a Short Offence Title it is not possible to break this down as further sub categorisation.

Therefore, there is no information available.
