The King's cypher (FOI ref: 1648A/24)

a) Have you issued any new uniforms featuring the King's cypher?

b) If not, have you got any garments featuring the new cypher in stock? And when do you hope to start issuing them?

c) If so, when did you start? And is it a gradual process or are all officers now in uniform with the new cypher?

Response

None of our uniform items yet feature His Majesty The King's cypher. However, work is ongoing for replacement helmet plates and cap/bowler badges, which will replace those on the existing headwear (custodian helmets, bowlers, and flat caps). We are only going to replace the badging, not the headwear itself. All being well, we should have replaced all the badging for uniform related items in the first quarter of 2025.

With regard to epaulettes, sliders, bullions, etc, we are still exploring costings of a Superintendent (Supt) up change over. This affects ranks of Supt/Chief Supt/Chief Constable and will be done with the lowest cost implication.
