Q1: Total number of submissions to operation snap year to date:
As of 10/12/24 we have received 15,210 submissions to date.
Q2: Total number of those submissions found to have not committed an offence.
As of 10/12/24 we have received 413 submissions and found not to have committed an offence.
Q3: Total number of those submissions to be found to have committed an offence.
As of 10/12/24 12,827 submissions have found to have committed an offence.
Q4: Total number of submissions regarding cyclist breaking traffic laws.
West Midlands Police have not received any submissions regarding cyclists breaking traffic laws.
Q5: How does operation snap deal with cyclists breaking the law.
If any submission were to be received, we would review and take positive action where possible.
Q6: Does a warning letters mean an offence has been committed.
An officer will review a submission and will issue a warning letter if an offence has been committed.
Q7: Why would a warning letters be used and not a prosecution.
A Warning letter will be issued if the offence date falls outside the 14 days required to issue a Notice of Intended Prosecution, and we are unable to raise a prosecution.
