About Operation Elevate
West Midlands Police is rolling out a multi-agency partnership tactic, which has been designed and part-funded by the Home Office to support and regenerate areas most affected by serious and organised crime.
We launched our first operation in Birmingham before rolling out the initiative in other areas of the West Midlands.
The three-phase approach, known locally as Op Elevate, aims to crack down on criminal activity with targeted high-visibility police operations and strategic covert tactics.
You can expect to see more officers on the streets, tackling drug rings and county lines, disrupting operations, and sending a clear message: crime won't be tolerated.
We’ll also be focusing on strengthening our communities by working with local partners like social services, councils, community groups, and businesses. We'll address the root causes of crime, provide support and opportunities to help people rebuild their lives and protect our communities against organised crime groups.
Who is involved
Partners involved in Operation Elevate include West Midlands Police, West Midlands Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU), West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, local councils, West Midlands Fire Service, housing associations, health services, schools, colleges, local businesses, community groups and residents.
The activity focuses on reducing the activity of organised crime in the area and improving community safety and confidence in the police. This is likely to initially increase reporting of crime and enable further problem-solving to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.
